Improvements each and every day!!

Good evening! Wow, I can't believe it has already been 4 months since the last time I updated the blog. I received an email from the Snyder family today...so without further ado.....

"Many great things have happened since the last post four months ago. Quincey continues to improve each and everyday. Most importantly her eyes are focused on Jesus and the promises of the Word of God. We know his promises are yes and so be it. 'Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.' Hebrews 10:23

Summer proved to be very busy for Quincey. She consistently had work outs or some type of therapy five days a week, as well as, making up an entire semester of school. Her first outing with friends was a Casting Crowns concert in July right here in Rifle. August brought the Garfield County Fair. I mentioned her 4H pig Peggy Sue in the last blog. Peggy Sue made it to fair and won reserve grand champion in her market weight class. Quincey was able to sell her at the auction and apply the profits towards her college fund. She has been praying about the right college and the direction God wants to lead her.

She has been practicing her driving not only in an automatic but a standard as well. She is doing very well and gaining more and more confidence in her ability. She consistently uses a walker to get around our house. She is able to stand while brushing her teeth. She can go up and down stairs with support. She can side step around the kitchen counters with no assistance. She is able to help with dishes, cooking, and setting the table. Her strength and stamina in all that she does increases everyday. The right side is beginning to make strides in catching the left side. Her hands, fingers and wrists are responding better all the time.

In August Quincey returned to school for her senior year. She is doing well with enormous support from our family, church family, friends, administration, staff and community She continues her five day a week workouts and has added horseback riding to her schedule. Her hard work is paying off. Two weeks ago she was able to walk on the treadmill for three minutes and the stair stepper for two minutes with Tara and I at her side for safety only. Last Wednesday she walked on the treadmill for 12 minutes. God is GOOD!

On Saturday she will be going hunting with her dad and Uncle Trent. She is so excited. She sighted in her rifle last Sunday and I must say...WATCH OUT ELK! She is still dead on even with a few temporary challenges. She expects to bring home her first bull elk....we will keep you posted on the outcome.

God is doing a great work in Quincey. We know that as she stays the course, remains courageous, stays in the word and remembers that 'What is impossible with man is possible with God.' Luke 18:27 she will finish this race. She is the victor not a victim. She is an overcomer and a conqueror. She is healed, blessed, favored, set free, made whole, delivered, restored and prospered. She is the head not the tail, above and not below.

Very soon you will be able to view a documentary that Lyndsey, Quincey's older sister has been working on. I have seen the beginning of her work and it is wonderful. Sometimes we are so focused on where we are going we forget where we have been and therefore forget about the blessings, graces and mercies along the way. We are also including in this blog, Quincey's Play List. These are some songs that minister to us everyday. We believe they will minister to you as well.

'but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.' Isaiah 40:31

With faithful expectation,

Quincey and Family

The Climb

Good afternoon all of my fellow Snyder friends. I received an email from Michele last night and I was in Grand Junction so I am updating today.

Here is the email that I was sent:

"Well...Quincey fans we have been home 6 1/2 weeks already. It has been great being able to see so many of you and look forward to seeing many more in the weeks to come. This situation has been called many things...some of said its a journey, others a process. Let me jump back in time for a moment....

While we were still at Craig Hospital we went to see the new Hannah Montana movie...don't laugh its a great movie with a great moral message. At the end of that movie she sings a song called "The Climb". It basically says life is a climb and that there is some uncertainty at times, your faith is tested but you keep pressing through, you keep climbing, you keep commanding that mountain to move. This is the link that you have not heard it but would like to read the lyrics http://www.metrolyrics.com/the-climb-lyrics-miley-cyrus.html We all decided this situation for our family is just that, The Climb. "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to the mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20 NIV.

This is by far the most rugged, treacherous, threatening, jagged, unforgiving mountain we have faced in our family in our lifetime. It has only been through God's graces and mercies that we are still on course, still climbing, still commanding the mountain to move out of faith, belief and hope. We know the peace, comfort and strength that is present can only come from God. "We walk by faith, not by sight." 2Corinthians 5:7

Quincey is doing great. The change we have seen in the last 6 1/2 weeks has been tremendous. We have seen her take 30+ steps on land and with assistance from a walker or mom and Aunt Tara. From sitting to standing requires almost no assistance. Her legs are very strong. Her right side is slightly behind the left in strength and movement BUT it is not far behind. Her left hand is getting stronger with more dexterity in her fingers. She has been attending open gym to keep up on all the workout routines and new plays. She will be attending basketball camp with the team the middle of June. She is making preparations with expectation to play again the game she loves. To see the dreams God has placed in her heart come to fruition. She practices everyday shooting hoops. She started out with a small squishy basketball smaller than a tennis ball tossing it into a small plastic trash can shaped like a basketball hoop. She now is shooting a basketball about the size of two tennis balls into that same trash can. She keeps stepping out in faith knowing God will meet her. She has also started online courses to catch up in all her classes. This will have her prepared to begin her senior year right where she needs to be. Oh, I almost forgot, she continues to work with her 4-H pig Peggy Sue. She sees her everyday, somes twice a day and feeds her plenty of cookies. One for you....one for me. We will see who gains the most weight by August.

We will keep you all posted. For my prayer warriors out there....specifically we ask you pray for hands, wrists, fingers, right side and strength in all those areas.

With much love,

Your day is blessed,

Quincey and family

"Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim (the God of breakthrough)." 1Chronicles 14:11

Believe your breakthrough is coming everyday....expect it. Today may be your Baal perazim!

Update from 4/28!

Okay, okay, okay. I am apologizing one more time. I really am gonna get my act together and get this blog updated as soon as I get the emails. Life gets faster and faster and I seem to be getting slower and slower. Again, I am so sorry! I got this email from Michele on the 28th.

Well, this time I need to ask for forgiveness....its been a week since I have been in touch with Shari to update the blog. Now that we have our first week under our belts it is our intention to update everyone three or four times a week.

Quincey had an incredible first week home. Gods favor was experienced in each day from the very smallest of details to the big one. The outpouring of help and offers to help have been humbling. We did not know how many cared so much for Quincey...AMAZING! We have had a constant support system. Food brought to our home, people coming to our home to pray with us, help and encouragement with Mackenzey and Reiley, success finding the right doctors and physical therapists, equipment and facilities available for Quincey's use. So many offers to bring groceries, watch the little girls, help with Quincey and help with repairs around the house. Friends, family and people we had never met loving on us, offering us a heart of compassion, and caring enough to see that the needs are met. We are so BLESSED!

Miss Quince is getting stronger by the day. Her attitude is nothing but positive and her smile rarely leaves her face...except when she is sleeping and she has really enjoyed doing that in her own bed. There is truly nothing like the comfort of home. Prom was last weekend and she went to the after prom party. She had so much fun hanging out and laughing with friends. How cool is that! She was also blessed this week with a new touch screen phone. Needless to say it is a good thing we have the unlimited texting package. She is constantly catching up with everyone and loving every minute of it. Plus, it is great therapy for the thumbs and pointer fingers!

We will keep you all posted on her restoration. It is amazing to have front row seats to God's graces, mercies and super natural healing. "What is impossible with man, is possible with God." Luke 18:27

"So faith comes by hearing, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ." Romans 10:17

With humble hearts,

The Snyder Family

Home at Last!

Good evening! I received an email from Quincey and Michele last night. Haven't felt real good so I hadn't gotten on the computer until this evening!

Here's the email....

"As so many of you have heard, seen, or read on the blog....we are indeed home. Praise God! We came to Colorado from Miami in a snowstorm and from Denver to Rifle in a blizzard. I would have to say that the weather has painted an accurate picture of what life as been like for the past four months. Unpredictable, cold and dark at times, slippery and unsure with poor visability. How wonderful to serve a God that is bigger than all of that. 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and certain for the things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1

Being back home is both wonderful and challenging. I have to tell you the first stop Quincey made was to see her 4-H pig Peggy Sue. She was so excited to finally meet her. Then on home to see her faithful ole dog Howdy...he is so happy to have Quincey back home. We also had the opportunity on Saturday to the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys barn dance and auction. Quinc was able to see many friends, teammates, and family. Sunday was a day of much needed rest (and great snacks)! Monday she jumped right back into working toward her goals. No rest for the determined. When I have some time to get my thoughts gathered I am going to share the miracles, graces, and mercies and God's favor we have seen and experienced.

We are grateful to have so many who have loved, supported, prayed and cared for us. God bless each of you.

Q and M"

What more could I possibly say. Other than .....GLAD YOU ARE HOME Q & M!!!!!!!!

Until next email comes -

God's blessings and love to you all,

Shari

Headin' Home

Good evening! I received an email from Quincey and Michele this evening (AND I'm updating same night....WOW!!)

I'm quoting the email:

"Just wanted to let everyone know that we are heading back to Rifle. It is time to get out of this hospital, get home and let God finish the healing in Quincey. The seeds have been planted and we are patiently waiting the harvest. It talks about that in the book of James...not exactly sure of the chapter and verse. Essentially it says not to worry or cry because you will see the harvest of the seeds planted. We KNOW that the harvest we will see in Quincey and within our family and most likely friends, extended family and the community will be more than we could ever have hoped for or imagined. God is always on time.

Once we have had some time to get back to being a family, get settled back into a routine and allow Quincey some much needed rest we will get to the business of seeing everyone. We look forward to it.

We will continue the blog. Stay tuned for the rest of the story......

Blessings and New Beginnings,

Q & M"

This note is from me.....

I know how excited everyone is to have Quincey come home (I am too!), however, as someone who has walked somewhat in their shoes, please give them some time to get settled. Coming home is very overwhelming and exhausting. I know that it won't be long before they are anxiously awaiting visits from everyone.

God's blessings to you all,

Shari

VERY LATE UPDATE

Hello everyone! I am again asking for your forgiveness. I received an email from Quincey and Michele on Sunday (Easter) and due to several different circumstances, I am just now updating. I am so so sorry.

Lyndsey and Dylan were there last week to visit. It was a boost of energy to have them there. They were able to see Quincey do her thing in the pool and filmed it all underwater!! It was very cool! They were also able to see Quincey get all of the way up in the standing frame! Now here is the cool thing.........she was able to go from a sitting position to standing - twice! The first time required more assistance than the second! The second time she popped right up with those strong legs of hers, straightened that back, pulled back those shoulders, put her head high and put on a smile that lit up the room! It was a beautiful moment and she is a beautiful young woman. Her therapist said "You are my hero today!" With emotion and tears that possibly only someone who has lived this could understand. They also have this on video and they can't wait to share it! She was also asked to with an inservice for the therapists Thursday morning (this morning as its 1:30 am) and will be showing that same exact thing to them! YOU GO QUINCEY!!

They will be coming home soon! Its a good time of year for new beginnings. God has started a great work in Quincey and He has promised in his word to finish it. Life and Wholeness...complete restoration. "We know with confident expectation it will be nothing less and probably more than we could ever hope for. Praise the Lord. "

As this email was sent to me on Easter Sunday, this is how Quincey and Michele closed the email. "Remember the sacrifice on this beautiful Easter Sunday. He paid for it all over 2000 years ago on that cross."

In Him,

Shari

PS....WE FINALLY GOT INTO OUR HOME!!! Almost a week now and I feel more discombobulated than ever!!!

Good Evening!

Good evening. I received an email from Michele on Saturday. I sincerely apologize to you all for the delay. The ongoing moving saga continues. My family still has not been able to move into our new home (inspections are not going well). We have been able to move stuff in but we aren't allowed to stay there yet. Unfortunately, my modem was taken to the new house and I just got it hooked back up at the old house today. And on top of all of that drama, my husband got pneumonia. Scary stuff but he is doing much better now. Anyway...again I apologize.

Quincey had a very busy week last week with therapies everyday but all the hard work is paying off. She can stand flat footed without assistance or weight in the shallow end of the pool while next to the edge. When she is in the deeper water, she requires minimal assistance from the PT's to keep her balance and remain standing. Her legs are getting stronger and stronger. They are removing the stim on the FES from her quads and putting them on her calves. Her quads are so strong that she doesn't need them on that muscle group anymore!! She has also been using a manual wheelchair that she can move with her legs and her feet. This wears her out very quickly BUT she can do it! Praise the Lord! Since they are seeing consistent movement in her left wrist, left fingers and thumb, and right fingers they are doing E-stim to help those areas to become stronger also. They are truly seeing Gods promises fulfilled in her each day. That is for complete and total restoration of her body. As it was ...and better than before the accident. She knows it is His will to heal not if it is His will. Mark 11:22-24

They have also been moved to out-patient status. That is a good thing. She requires no medical assistance that would require hospitalization. It is all rehab from here on out. Praise the Lord! So mail from now on scratch room #332 and in its place put Apt. 409.

"To all the prayer warriors, thank you for standing in the gap for us. Bless each of you. Friends and family thank you for not forgetting about us. We love and appreciate each of you. Bless each of you. In Christ's love, Quincey and Michele

Shari
